Dallas, TX (IFR)—The final death toll is officially five and seven were injured when Michael Xavier Johnson, a 25-year-old, opened fire on police is Dallas at a Black LIves Matter protest following the deaths of two African American men at the hands of police in Minnesota and Louisiana.

Four police are confirmed killed and 11 shot total, including one transit officer, according to reports coming in. See video and full story below.

Update: Police Chief David Brown said a suspect was cornered in a commercial garage and is in custody. Some reports have stated there was a shootout before one suspect was apprehended. There were reports of and videos that show protesters running for cover as bullets were being exchanged.

Update: CNN reports that 11 officers were shot and 4 were killed. Dallas PD released a picture of a man who has turned himself in. They named him as a person of interest. Another alleged suspect is in custody as well.

Earlier today: It has been confirmed that 10 officers have been hit by sniper gunfire in Dallas, TX during a protest after 2 black men in Minnesota and Louisiana were shown on video being killed by police.

Live Internet broadcasts from news agencies reported on how 10 police officers in Dallas were just hit by sniper gunfire during a Black Lives Matter protest. 3 of the officers have been confirmed dead. IFR will continue to update this story as more information comes in.
