LMP IFR Internship Program

The Lawson Media and Publishing and Independent Forum Review internship program is an intensive program focused on creating engaging, interactive, independent and thought-provoking content for delivery to a mass audience. Our mission is to stimulate an ongoing open dialogue among people in the world. Internships are focused on interest and skill. We currently offer credit for internships. All interns must be available for communication throughout the daily work week at least three times per week via chat, phone, email or social media. Interns can complete three types of intensive programs - 3-month, 6-month, 9-month or 1-year.

Opportunities exist in the following categories:

News Reporting

Applicable majors: broadcasting, political science, mass communications, journalism, English/other languages, history, technical communication, media studies
Interns will post original content, links to relevant content/data, interpret data, form opinions, etc. in the form of blogs, news stories, photos, etc. and promote them via social networks.

Science and Technology

Applicable majors: mass communications, journalism, technical communication, IT, chemistry, biology, media studies, web design, English, engineering, manufacturing, programming, etc.
Interns will post original content, links to relevant content/data, interpret data, form opinions, etc. in the form of blogs, news stories, photos, etc. and promote them via social networks.

Business, Finance and Industry

Applicable majors: business management, sales, marketing, finance, accounting, economics, mass communications, journalism, English, history
Interns will post original content, links to relevant content/data, interpret data, form opinions, etc. in the form of blogs, news stories, photos, etc. and promote them via social networks.

Sports, Health and Athletics

Applicable majors: sports medicine, nursing, sports management, physical fitness training, mass communications, English, journalism, history
Interns will post original content, links to relevant content/data, interpret data, form opinions, etc. in the form of blogs, news stories, photos, etc. and promote them via social networks.

Arts and Entertainment

Applicable majors: art, music, music business, multimedia studies, media studies, journalism, theater, entertainment business, philosophy, history, English/other languages, cultural studies
Interns will post original content, links to relevant content/data, interpret data, form opinions, etc. in the form of blogs, news stories, photos, etc. and promote them via social networks. This intern will also promote independent music across our networks.

Marketing and Advertising

Applicable majors: marketing, business, finance, graphic design, public relations, media studies, multimedia studies, art
Intern will focus on marketing our services and content, as well as cultivating a community of users for our online and mobile sites, apps, etc. This intern will also be charged with designing promotional materials, promoting on social media and other networks, writing and sending press releases, writing marketing and advertising copy, following media trends, helping build links, examine copy for keyword richness, sending and responding to marketing and advertising emails and other tasks associated with marketing our brand, services and products.

Photography and Videography

Applicable majors: journalism, photojournalism, broadcasting, photography, media studies, multimedia studies, video production
Intern will be responsible for photo and video shoots, editing, correcting, touching up, production, editing, packaging, and allowing for exclusive use of produced work to be distributed.

Broadcasting Radio & TV

Applicable majors: broadcasting, media studies, multimedia studies, broadcast management, music business, video production, audio production/engineering, web development, English/other languages
This intern will focus on helping us create the best Internet audio and video we can possibly muster to appeal to a wide audience hungry for independent content. Duties may include station programming, promotion, contest administration, marketing, audio/video production, web development, linking, email correspondence and other tasks associated with online radio and tv production.

Copy and Editorial

Applicable majors: English/other languages, technical communication, mass communications, journalism, media studies
This intern will help IFR avoid errors in type, headlines, consistency, clarity, style, grammar, punctuation, captions and others.
